The Surprise Package was comprised of members from The Viceroys and The Galaxies. These two bands were regulars at regional teen fairs and often played alongside The Sonics and The Wailers.

The Surprise Package recorded the album “Free Up” with Lee Hazlewood, featuring heavy fuzz guitar, rock organ, keyboard bass (like The Doors) and a fifteen-minute title track. Despite touring with the Beach Boys or Led Zeppelin, success did not knock their door…

The Surprise Package estaba formado por miembros de The Viceroys y The Galaxies. Estas dos bandas eran habituales en eventos juveniles locales y con frecuencia tocaron junto a The Sonics y The Wailers.

The Surprise Package grabaron el álbum “Free Up” con Lee Hazlewood, metiendo guitarras con un potente fuzz, órganos rockeros, bajos con los teclados (al estilo de The Doors) y hasta un tema de 15 minutos. A pesar de girar junto a los Beach Boys o Led Zeppelin, el éxito no llegó a llamar a su puerta…

Este disco es nuestra segunda entrega dentro de la nueva serie de reediciones de álbumes completos del catálogo de Lee Hazlewood Industries (LHI) Records.

Primera reedición en vinilo. Remasterizado a partir de las cintas analógicas originales por el ingeniero, nominado a los Grammy, John Baldwin.
